Popcropolis - your altar of celebrity worship and sacrifice – is the mouthpiece of Tom Payne, author of Fame: What the Classics Tell Us About Our Cult of Celebrity. Tom was born in 1971 and read Classics at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. For four years he was deputy literary editor of The Daily Telegraph. He lives with his wife and four children in Dorset, and teaches at Sherborne School. Tom is currently working on a translation of Ovid’s The Art of Love for Vintage Classics.
